KUCHING: The Civil Defence Force (APM) has successfully captured two pythons in separate incidents in northern Sarawak.
One of the cases took place today (June 22) around 11 am in Miri while the other case happened on Wednesday (June 21) around 9.25 pm in Bintulu.
Both pythons – one approximately six feet long and and another three feet long – were found on the roads.
In Miri, the APM team was alerted to the presence of the six-foot-long python slithering on the road behind an eatery at Time Square, Jalan Marina.
Following that, three APM Miri members were despatched to the scene where they met a 34-year-old auxiliary policeman who had called the agency for assistance.
By using a snake tong, the team managed to capture the reptile as big as an adult’s arm.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, residents in Taman Li Hua were startled when a three-foot-long python was discovered on a road.
Concerned citizens immediately contacted APM Bintulu, which promptly deployed four members to the scene.
The team skilfully captured the snake, which was outside the gate of a house, using a snake catching equipment.
Both pythons were subsequently released into their natural habitats, away from residential and commercial areas.
