LUNDU: The Malaysian army (TDM) operating under the First Malaysian Infantry Division (1 Div), thwarted smuggling activities at the GABMA Kandaei Post Sector here on Jan 25.

Reports indicate that at 10 pm, a team of on-duty members received information from local residents on a suspicious truck heading towards the Malaysia-Indonesia border area.

Responding promptly, the team proceeded to the Ladang Kg Kendaie area for inspection, where they detained four Malaysian men.

“Upon further examination, it was revealed that these four men admitted to being en route to the Indonesian border for smuggling activities involving five pallets of liquid detergent.

Pallets of liquid detergent confiscated during the inspection.

“The total estimated value of all confiscated items is nearly RM 303,506. The four detained men were taken to the Lundu district police station for further investigation,” the reports said.

The Malaysian army remains steadfast in its commitment, focus, and high level of readiness to analyse the environment and control the national border, preventing cross-border criminal activities, invasions, and smuggling at all times.
