KUCHING: State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) received 50,000 pieces of face masks from Astro for the state’s frontliners yesterday.
A member of SDMC Secretariat Datuk Mohd Morshidi Mustapha, on behalf of SDMC chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, received the donation from Astro’s director of Customer Sales Alision Lau, a representative of Astro’s chief executive officer (CEO) Henry Tan at the Old Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building here.
Morshidi, who is also State deputy director of Security and Enforcement Unit (UKPN), said that the donation of the face masks was for frontliners who are on duty during the movement control order (MCO).
“On behalf of SDMC, I would like to thank Astro for the donation to assist in the fight against Covid-19.
“Aside from that, SDMC would also like to thank corporate groups and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for their contribution in order to curb the pandemic,” he told reporters at the handing over ceremony.
