BINTULU: The Bintulu Dayak Development Association (Bangun) is looking to earn more at the Gawai Dayak Market this year.

Its chairman, Thwaites Langak said it has set a target of an additional 20 per cent in returns from the RM300,000 it raked in last year.

He is optimistic it will be able to achieve the target with the support of BMAS Holdings Sdn Bhd, which sponsors the Gawai Dayak Market 2024 from May 1-19.

“This year we are back at the same site which is at Tamu E-mart Bintulu. A total of 28 sales booths house 18 handicraft and clothing stalls and ten stalls selling food and drinks.”

Thwaites said this  after a brief donation presentation event from BMAS Holdings Sdn Bhd represented by the founder and executive chairman  Andenson Datuk Paran to Bangun Bintulu.

Andenson said, apart from financial support, BMAS Holdings Sdn Bhd also sent some local artists under the auspices of BMAS Entertainment to perform at Pasar Gawai Dayak 2024 in an effort to attract more visitors.

“I am not part of the Bangun Bintulu committee, but I am moved to offer help because I am also a Dayak and want to contribute to the community, especially in helping the economy of Dayak entrepreneurs,” he said.
