MIRI: People in the Baram area here have been assured of the state government’s commitment in bringing development into their area.

“The Sarawak government will continue to develop the rural areas and provide basic amenities to the people,” Local Government Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil assured.

He added that such facilities would include road upgrading and providing clean water supply.

“These will be additional projects to add to projects which have been implemented in the areas,” he said during a visit to Tuai Rumah George Ijus Jawa longhouse at Sungai Kejaman, Baram Hilir on Saturday morning.

Penguang was there for a community programme (Segulai Sejalai Nuju Pemansang) hosted by the longhouse.

He was accompanied by Baram MP Anyi Ngau during the visit.
