KUCHING: Heading to the bazaar is like an obligation during Ramadan, often becoming a focal point for many to acquire food for the breaking of fast.

On Monday, with less than 24 hours to go, preparations were well underway for the fasting month.

A survey by New Sarawak Tribune found dozens of business sites already set up at three different locations, Kubah Ria, Jalan Semarak and Emart Batu Kawa.

The Ramadan bazaar sites will operate from 2pm to midnight starting from March 12 to April 9.

A survey at Kubah Ria found contractors setting up the main entrance there with several traders busy decorating their stalls.

There were similar scenes at Jalan Semarak, and at Emart Batu Kawa.

Apart from these locations, the public may also visit other places such as Bazaar Ramadan Taman Sukma, Bazaar Ramadan Satok and also Bazaar 7th Mile (Batu 7).

The Ramadan bazaar is expected to provide increased opportunities for entrepreneurs or small traders to generate income.
