KUCHING: Beauty salons and centres in the state have been given the green light to reopen for business beginning June 17.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement on Friday, said beauty salons and centres were among the activities which would be allowed to resume operations from next Wednesday.

“The Local Government and Housing Ministry will announce the standard operating procedure (SOP) for their (beauty salons and centres) operation anytime soon,” said the statement.

Beauty salon and centres are among the sectors that were temporarily closed due to the enforcement of movement control order (MCO) since March 18 in order to curb the spread of Covid-19.

Recently, the Federal government announced that barber shops, hairdressing salons including beauty salons in the country were allowed to operate from June 10 during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period.

In Sarawak, barber shops and hair salons were allowed to resume business on June 9, after some three months of closure during the MCO period.
