LAWAS: Thirty members of the Malaysian Military Veterans Association (MMVA) from Limbang and Lawas branches attended a stingless bee-keeping course organised by PERHEBAT (Ex-Servicemen Affairs Corporation) and Kapten Agro Farm Sarawak, recently.

The course was conducted by the Manager of Kapten Agro Farm, Captain (rtd) Syed Amran Mohamad.

The course touched on the basics, like how to select and cut logs for the stingless honey bees to build their colonies in and other matters relating to bee-keeping.

According to chairman of MMVA Lawas branch, Mohd Alwi Haji Razali, the first programme held has the potential to generate side income for the army veterans.

A representative of Sarawak Veterans Affairs Department, Captain Farizal Hashim said the department has provided a course to rear stingless honey bees in an effort to look into the welfare of the army veterans.

Also present was  PERHEBAT offical from Kuala Lumpur, Mohd Syukri Abdul Halim.
