KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and the Minister of Investment, Trade, and Industry (MITI), Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz, have agreed to work closely to attract more investments into Sarawak.

According to a statement, the meeting between the two ministers took place at MITI’s office today (March 25), where they discussed common interests, including showcasing Sarawak as the green and renewable energy hub for the region.

Awang Tengah, who serves as Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment (MINTRED), emphasised the need to be proactive in attracting the right investments, particularly in new economic areas such as green hydrogen, carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS), and renewable energy as investment opportunities.

“With this, there must be targeted incentives and steadfast policies to facilitate the growth of these industries,” Awang Tengah said during the meeting.

Present at the meeting were the Deputy Minister of MINTRED, Datuk Dr. Malcolm Mussen Lamoh; Advisor to MINTRED, Datuk Sri Mohd. Naroden Majais; Permanent Secretary to MINTRED, Dulkornain Masron; Datuk Ismawi Ismuni, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Regional Corridor Development Authority; and Timothy Ong, CEO of InvestSarawak.
