PUTRAJAYA: The Al-Quran Printing Control and Licensing Board (LPPPQ) has approved the disposal of 2,513 copies of Al-Quran and 10,788 reading materials that are not certified by the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) or either have mistakes in the verses, are damaged or old.
KDN Enforcement and Control Division secretary Nik Yusaimi Yussof in a statement today said the approval was among the decisions made during the 108th LPPPQ meeting organised by KDN through the division.
He said other resolutions included certifying and validating 16 final proofs of Al-Quran that were passed, taking the latest tally of Al-Quran text allowed to be printed, published, imported and distributed in the country to 932 types.
Also stipulated was the ban on the importation, sale and distribution of Al-Quran and translations without the Arabic text, and that all translations of the verses of Al-Quran in Malaysia must be guided by the Ar-Rahman Leaderships Interpretation of the meaning of Al-Quran published by the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim), he said.
In addition, he said all imported Al-Quran were required to comply with the application, review and certification procedures under Section 7 of the Printing of Al-Quran Text Act before being allowed to be brought into Malaysia.
Meanwhile, Nik Yusaimi said the implementation of the impactful “Jom Exchange Al-Quran” (JEQ) programme would be continued nationwide to realise the goal of having zero copies of Al-Quran without KDN approval in the country.
He said the KDN would take strict action against any party involved in the sale or distribution of Al-Quran copies or reading material that were in violation of the country’s laws, and if found guilty, can be punished with imprisonment of up to five years or a fine of up to RM20,000, or both.
“The public is called upon to cooperate by channelling information related to Al-Quran texts or materials that do not have a KDN certificate by calling 03-8000 8000, or through the website, www.moha.gov.my,” he said. – BERNAMA
