KANOWIT: The body of a seven-year-old boy who was feared drowned while bathing with his grandparents last Thursday was found yesterday.

Kanowit fire station chief Arrahman Chik said the deceased identified as Nekson Dana Raimond was found by villagers around 8.45am.

The body was floating by the banks of Ngemah Nanga Benuk river about three kilometres downstream from where the victim was reported missing.

The search and rescue (SAR) personnel retrieved the body and handed over to the police for further action.

About 4.30pm on the fateful day, the grandmother is said to be about to change her clothes when she lost grip of the boy and he was swept away by the strong river current.
