MIRI: The Miri City Council (MCC) has revamped its car parking payment application to provide hassle-free parking for drivers.

The new online parking system concept is made possible through partnership with Borneo Parking Systems.

The new version was launched today (Feb 1) by Miri City Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang.

“It is now available for use in all Miri City Council Car Parking Zones. The new application is designed to make parking payments in the city more convenient and user-friendly for drivers,” said Yii before the launching at the city council building in Marina Bay.

Also present were Deputy Mayor Julaihi Muhamad and the city council acting secretary Abdul Rahman Taupek.

The application features a new sleek interface, making it easier for users to pay for parking spots and experience a faster and more convenient process of payment reloading via the app.

In addition, the new app also offers several seasonal parking options, allowing drivers to pay for a set period in advance, saving them the trouble of constantly paying for parking on a daily basis.

The launch of the new application is part of an ongoing initiative by MCC to introduce ‘Smart City’ solutions aimed at improving the lives of residents and visitors.

“The new application is another significant step towards achieving this goal. We are confident that it will significantly improve the parking experience for everyone,” Yii said.

“Based on the introduction of the previous parking application, feedback has shown that it has gained wide acceptance amongst drivers.

“With the new and improved ’Borneo Park Miri’ application, we hope more drivers will adopt the online system payment method,” he added.

Miri City Council invited drivers to download and use the application from today onwards.

The Car Parking Payment Application is available on the Apple App Store and Google Play.

The application started a trial run in September last year and since its inception, 7,570 users have downloaded the new application.

“During the trial period, there has been no downtime for the ‘Borneo Park Miri’ App, and the feedback has been positive so far,” Yii said.

He encouraged drivers to utilise their available credits in the older ‘Smart Parking Borneo’ App and then migrate to the new ‘Borneo Park Miri’ App.

For the record, Miri City Council was the first in Sarawak to introduce an online parking application system.

The local city council will continue implementing other new initiatives in the future.
