Businesswoman loses RM17k in purchase deal

MIRI: A businesswoman here lost a total of RM17,000 to a scammer in a ‘purchase’ deal of a used car. 

According to Miri police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, the victim in her forties became interested in buying the imported car after seeing an advertisement on Facebook offering the car.

He confirmed to have received a report on the incident last Dec 18.

“She had completed transactions totalling RM17,000 to a bank account provided by the suspect,” Alexson said.

He advised the public to be cautious before making any decision to purchase vehicles online.

The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code.
