KUCHING: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) Youth chief, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, said that the victory of the Barisan Nasional (BN) in the January 26th Cameron Highlands parliamentary by-election was a rejection of Pakatan Harapan (PH) for a number of reasons.

“It is reflective of the people’s true preference for the BN which is still in their hearts. By virtue of the victory margin, the by-election might as well not have been held … might as well stick to the people’s earlier choice. After all they are the best judges,” he said.

He said everybody predicted that the BN would win and it came true.

“The truth prevails,” he said.

He proposed that the reason people rejected the PH was because it has not truly honoured the promises in its manifestos.

“There have been far too many u-turns and policy blunders for the last nine months. The people see that there has been more rhetoric than fulfillment.

“There have been ‘expressions of regrets’ by the people concerning the PH failure to deliver their promises,” he said, adding that as such their integrity and ability are doubtful and questionable.

To him it implies that the present government’s credibility was won through accusations and propaganda in the GE14.

“The truth around their shadow manifestos could not take effect as many projects have been reviewed or in the process of being cancelled. For them, things have been easier said than done. Probably the BN is on its way back to power. The next by-election could be another telling yardstick,” he said.
