KUCHING: Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Berhad looks forward to a long-term partnership with Rainforest World Music Festival in promoting their ‘Zero Irresponsible Drinking’ and ‘Zero Packaging Waste’ initiatives.

The brewery company’s initiative, themed ‘Together Towards Zero & Beyond’, aims to promote the idea of celebrating and drinking alcohol responsibly, especially at festivals.

“We try to educate our consumers and employees on how to actually drink in the right manner.

“For us, it’s just beyond commercial reasons because we want to advocate the importance of zero irresponsible drinking,” said Immy Ooi, the senior manager, corporate affairs, and sustainability at Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia Berhad.

She emphasised that there’s a time for people to enjoy and consume alcohol in a responsible manner.

According to her, throughout the festival, Carlsberg provided breathalysers for visitors and members of the public to test their alcohol content.

Besides that, she also highlighted that through Carlsberg’s ‘Zero Packaging Waste’, they will only be using aluminium cans at the festival.

“Every time we have an event, we try to recycle where possible. Beyond the Rainforest World Music Festival, we try to look at other sustainable ways to run our events.

“Even when there’s beer sampling, we try to use paper cups instead of plastic,” she told reporters at Damai Beach Resort, Santubong, today (June 24).

For the record, it is Carlsberg’s first time at the Rainforest World Music Festival 2023, and the company looks forward to future partnerships.

“It’s our first year sponsoring, and we’re happy to support the festival, which showcases a lot of diverse music from different parts of the world.

“We are very happy to support our East Malaysian consumers; they are very special to us,” she said.
