SIBU: The Central Zone contingent for the Sarawak Games (SUKSAR) is setting their sights to win 40 gold medals in the third edition of SUKSAR here from Jan 15 to 18.

They are targeting to clinch 10 gold medals in weightlifting, six in Taekwondo, and four each in basketball and boxing competitions.

Meanwhile, they also set a target to win three gold medals each in cycling, judo and silat competitions and at the same time, two gold medals each for volleyball, karate and wushu competitions.

For the volleyball, karate, and wushu competitions the goal is winning two gold medals each, while a single gold medal for hockey is sought.

Kapit Resident Galong Luang who is the contingent head was optimistic of that the contingent can improve their past record where they finished in third place during the last edition of SUKSAR.

“We are aiming to be the champion this year. If not, we aim to at least secure the second place,” he said when met by reporters after the flag handover to teams representing the contingent at Sibu Indoor Stadium here today (Jan 11).
