Chance to promote local handicrafts: MP

KUCHING: The Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia 2022 programme here will feature handicraft products from local entrepreneurs which can be promoted to a wider market.

Malaysian Handicraft Development Corporation chairperson Datuk Rubiah Wang said this during her visit to the site of the programme which started on Thursday.

“The Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia programme is being held for the first time here in Sarawak and we are taking this opportunity to showcase the products of local entrepreneurs.

“These include songket, pua kumbu, Sarawak beads, and wood carvings with cultural motifs from Sarawak,” said the Kota Samarahan MP.

This was shared in a post on the Kota Samarahan Parliamentary Service Centre Facebook page on Thursday.

“We hope that the involvement of local entrepreneurs can give exposure to the public that in Sarawak, we also have products which can be marketed, and most of these are produced in the villages by the local community,” said Rubiah.

Citrawarna Keluarga Malaysia 2022 is a four-day carnival taking place from Feb 24 to 27 which will feature a range of exciting activities including dance, music, craft, and food.
