KUCHING: The Salvation Army Kuching is organising a charity sale event on Aug 31 at the ACS Association of Churches Sarawak (ACS) here to raise funds for the underprivileged.
The event, known as the “Sale of Work・ will run from 8am to 12pm, and will be attended by several guests of honour, including Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng.
“The sale will feature about 80 stalls offering various items. Members of the public are encouraged to attend the event to learn more about The Salvation Army’s work and services and to support the cause by purchasing items from the stalls.
“The event will also feature special performances by residents of the Kuching Children’s Home and Kuching Boys Home.
“Several associations, churches and corporate partners, as well as individuals have volunteered to ensure it is a success,” according to a statement.
The funds raised from the charity sale will be used to expand The Salvation Army’s services in Kuching and assist more underprivileged individuals.
The organisation is moving to a new location in Kota Samarahan in early September, which will allow them to accommodate more children and plan community outreach programs, such as income-generating projects for single mothers.
The fundraising is particularly important as there has been an increase in requests for assistance from marginalised communities.
