MIRI: All close contacts of the Covid-19 patient from Pa’Dalih, Bario are awaiting their second swab test, said Datuk Lee Kim Shin, the minister in-charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee, today.

Lee, who is currently in Kuching, told New Sarawak Tribune that the close contacts, including relatives and friends of the patient, had undergone screening and taken the first swab test.

“The results were negative … they are now awaiting the second swab test.”

He added that the second swab test would be carried out after 10 days of home quarantine.

Contact tracing and screening were immediately carried out by the Health Department after being informed by the Sepang District Health Office, Selangor about a Sarawakian from Miri who was found positive for Covid-19 on Oct 2.

Before returning to his workplace at an oil and gas company in Iraq, the subject had undergone the reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rT-PCR) test at a private hospital in Selangor on Sept 30. His result on Oct 1 was positive.
