KUCHING: Improving the education quality in Sebuyau has been one of the commitments of Infrastructure and Ports Development Assistant Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi.

He said this during the High-Tea SK Bulan Jeragam Sebuyau Excellent Education Services Award Ceremony at Hilton Hotel yesterday.

Julaihi who is also the Sebuyau assemblyman told, “Although schools are under the Education Ministry or the Federal Government, we in the Sarawak Government are also concerned about education for children in rural areas.

“Which is why, we do not hesitate to approve allocations that can be used by school’s children, teachers as well as the villagers.”

Julaihi added that among the schools that have been allocated under his Rural Transformation Project (RTP) is SK Bulan Jeragam, where they have set up a community development centre for the use of the school with an allocation of RM320,000.

He noted that apart from the almost-complete community centre which is now waiting for electricity supply to be connected, consideration was made to have a fustal field constructed for SK Bulan Jeragam.

“I hope the school’s headmaster Mohamad Rizuan Sarbini, teachers and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) are able to find a site for the futsal field construction so that it can be implemented immediately,” he said.

He also revealed that 19 primary schools in the area will be assisted continuously to enhance the quality of education.

“I have been through all the hardships in the past and it is right and just, for the rural children to have the facilities we provide.

“I must help our children in rural areas especially in Sebuyau area, so they have the opportunity to succeed both academically and in the curriculum,” he stated.

During the event, Julaihi also presented the SK Bulan Jeragam Sebuyau Excellent Service Certificates to four recipients.
