KUCHING: An action committee will be established between the Sarawak government and Federal Land Development Authority (Felda).

Felda chairman Tan Sri Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh said the committee would determine matters, especially assets owned by Felda in Sarawak.

Among Felda’s assets in Sarawak are Merdeka Palace Hotel and several farms in Samarahan, Miri, Limbang and other areas.

“Merdeka Palace used to be a focal point, has very high potential and iconic.

“We want to uplift it and to cooperate on this matter with the Sarawak government. Hence, we are discussing what is the best way forward,” he was quoted as saying by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) in a report.

Earlier, Idris paid a courtesy visit on Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg on Friday (Feb 3).

Abang Johari also provided some suggestions to Felda and details would be discussed through the said committee.
