Community hall, football field soon for Taman Samarindah

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Finally the folks of Taman Samarindah are relieved to learn that a government grant of RM650,000 had been allocated for the construction of  a multi-purpose community hall and a football field on a four-acre land in the centre of their area.

District Officer of Kota Samarahan Mohd Ainnie Bin Wahab, who represented Stakan State Assemblyman Dato Sri Hj Mohamad Ali Mahmud, delivered the good news when speaking as guest-of-honour at a ‘Lan Berambeh’ event to mark Taman Samarindah’s closing of Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak celebrations held at the Open Food Court, Everise on Saturday 8 July recently.

Gawai’s closing was marked with Ngiling Tikai (rolling of the mat) whereas a number of Raya related events were also held to mark the end of Aidilfitri celebration.

More than 300 gathered at the venue in unity to celebrate the closing of both festive seasons. Apart from the local folks, guests at the event comprised village chiefs, heads of departments and a number of NGOs’ representatives all dressing in their best.

Meanwhile, the community hall will be called ‘Balai Raya Zon Stakan’ (Stakan Zone Community Hall) and the official tendering documents have been issued for its construction this year. This facility will cater for residents from Kampung Stakan and Samarindah which comprise few housing estates namely Samarax, Merbau, Uni Central, Merdang, and Berangan Tengah, which are within the neighbourhood.

Also speaking at the event was the Assistant District Officer Ajis Bin Ahmat, who presented a cheque for RM3,000 being a top-up grant from the Stakan assemblyman, making it a total of RM13,000 for  the current year.

Chairmen for JKKK Taman Samarindah and Community Bistari praised the government for timely giving these facilities for fast growing new township of Bandar Riyal with the ever growing youth population annually who needs the football field and the community hall.

Main highlights that evening were the Malay traditional dance “Bermukun” presented by renowned trio from Asa Jaya, lucky draws, karaoke singing contest and stage performances by local Elvis Presley impressionists.
