LIMBANG: The local community is advised to be on alert and closely monitor their children’s surroundings following a disturbing incident involving a perverted flasher who is allegedly targeting underage girls.

A recent case, which involved a 15-year-old girl last Friday (June 23) around 6pm, has raised concerns among residents.

The New Sarawak Tribune managed to get in contact with the victim’s older brother last night (June 24) to shed light on the incident.

At the time, the girl, dressed in her school uniform, was making her way to a nearby grocery store along Jalan Bangkita to purchase items for her father.

“It was after the trip that my sister encountered a distressing situation. As she was walking along the roadside, an unknown man beckoned her using hand signals.

“With genuine concern and goodwill, she approached the man, as she assumed that he needed assistance.

“Shockingly, the man, who was wearing a helmet, proceeded to unzip his pants and expose his private parts, accompanied by a lewd gesture and suggesting my sister engage in inappropriate acts,” he said.

The flasher then fled the scene on his black motorcycle, and the victim ran back to her father, who is working at his shop nearby.

Overwhelmed by the traumatic incident, she confided in her father, who wasted no time in accompanying her to lodge a police report, hoping for swift action.

According to the victim’s brother, the police suspect that the flasher deliberately targets young girls in school uniforms, thus amplifying the urgency of addressing this issue.

In light of this disturbing event, he implored the community, particularly parents, to remain vigilant and closely monitor their daughters’ surroundings.

It is crucial to remain alert for any suspicious individuals with ill intentions, as the safety and well-being of young girls in the area are at stake.

Limbang police chief Supt Parum Niot, when contacted today (June 25), confirmed the case and assured that investigations are ongoing to track down the suspect.

“We are currently making efforts to identify and locate the suspect.

“The suspect’s face and his motorcycle’s plate number could not be identified by the victim, and there was no closed-circuit television (CCTV) set up at the scene,” he said.
