Company to contribute to economic and nation building in Sarawak, says KKB Engineering chief

KUCHING: KKB Group is determined to contribute more to the economic progress of Sarawak and for nation building, said KKB Engineering Berhad Founder and Chairman Datuk Seri Kho Kak Beng.

He said with the background and track record of KKB Group, it will continue to support the development of Sarawak, especially in infrastructure, water, gas, energy and all steel related business.

“As local Sarawakian, I am proud that KKB has contributed to the development of Sarawak over the 60 years.

“Today, our business in engineering, construction, manufacturing has also expanded into oil and gas. I am very proud within a period of 10 years, KKB Group through our subsidiary company, Oceanmight Sdn. Bhd. has been successfully awarded 14 projects majoring in Offshore Fabrication Steel Structures,” he said in his speech during the KKB’s 60th Anniversary Dinner celebration at Riverside Majestic Hotel, last night.

He also said, the transformation of KKB for over the 60 years, did not come easy.

“Success can only come from hard work, and since 1962, my one-man journey has today given employment of more than 1,000 staffs.

“With the teamwork and cooperation of all my hard working and loyal people, KKB now can enjoy the fruit of success tonight,” he added.

Meanwhile, its Group Executive Director, Kho Pok Tong said since 1964 KKB successfully became a public listed company and as of 2007, progressed to the main market of Bursa Malaysia, its market capitalization today is around RM400 million.

“Over the many decades, Sarawak our home has provided many of us with the stability and the opportunity to work hard, think smart and to participate in our nation building.

“At KKB, we shall continue and strive to stay relevant in the industry, we shall adopt the latest technology and seek for cooperation to leap forward into the future,” he said.

In conjunction with KKB’s Diamond Anniversary of 60 years and as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR), KKB has donated RM2 million to 10 charitable organisations, namely the Sarawak Children Cancer Society, Sarawak Heart Foundation, MAKSAK Sarawak, Hope Place, Persatuan Kebajikan Mawar Kuching, Mental Health Association of Sarawak, Kidney Association of Sarawak, Yayasan LaSallian Kuching, Association Churches of Sarawak and Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers Sarawak (SABATI).
