MIRI: As of February 24, a total of 50 cases of dengue have been reported in Miri city this year, raising concerns among local authorities.

“In Taman Ceria, Permyjaya, including Tudan Flats, a total 13 dengue cases were recorded this year (until Feb 24), with six compounds having been issued to individuals found breeding mosquitoes in their homes, as stagnant water is a breeding ground for the dengue-carrying mosquitoes,” said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin today (Feb 24) when met by local media before the commencement of Ops Bersepadu against Dengue in Taman Ceria in Permyjaya here.

Lee stressed the importance of residents taking necessary precautions to prevent the spread of this mosquito-borne disease.

The operation, involving various government agencies including the Miri City Council (MCC) and Health Department, commenced at 8am.

Lee, who is also the Senadin assemblyman, stressed the essential role of health officials in closely monitoring the situation and working to control the outbreak.
