KUCHING: The location of Sarawak’s first-ever Islamic international school has been identified.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said construction of the school, a collaboration with Singapore’s Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah, will begin in 2024.

“There are five other international schools in Sarawak and it is about time we had our own Islamic international school too.

“We will use the international syllabus. And the collaboration with AlJunied, our school will gain recognition by international renowned universities worldwide” he said.

He said this during the closing ceremony of Perujian Tilawah Al-Quran at Darul Husnul Khatimah Mosque, Semerah Padi here yesterday (Apr 9).

He hoped that the school will provide the opportunity for Islamic youth in Sarawak to continue their studies abroad.

“We will be able to produce our own Muslim scholars,” he said.
