KUCHING: A handover ceremony was held at the Day Care and Diagnostic Complex, Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), in which one unit of the compact intuitive system and 500 intraocular lens were presented to the Ophthalmology Department.
SGH director Dr Ngian Hiee Hung received the contribution.
“This was a part of collaboration between the Latter-day Saints Foundation and the Rotary Club of Kuching Central,” SGH said in a press release.
It then added that the system together with the lens will be used in the cataract operation.
“It will be carried out during the monthly outings to various hospitals in Serian, Sri Aman, Saratok, Lundu and others,” it added.
The operations are carried out free of charge for patients who are in need of the cataract operations, and especially for low income families in the surrounding areas with the hopes of reducing the backlogs patients in Sarawak.
