KOTA SAMARAHAN: The MAKANSARI FOODSTREET has been established at the Aiman Mall area here with the aim of providing convenience for university students in the vicinity, says Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos.

He said the newly completed eatery offers a wide range of affordable food and drinks, catering to the budget-conscious university students.

With over 50 stalls, the food street has gained popularity among the students and local residents here, Minos said.

“Aside from the eatery, MPKS is now developing one quarter of the food street for the show and sale of arts and handicrafts, including local ones.

“Folks in Kota Samarahan have the talent of producing all kinds of handicrafts and arts. They are very cultural minded, artistic and good with their hands,” he said.

He also highlighted the artistic talents of the people in Kota Samarahan, mentioning their proficiency in producing various handicrafts and arts, including the renowned kain songket.

Visitors, tourists, and locals can not only satisfy their culinary cravings but also indulge in shopping for local crafts, he added.

“MPKS is doing more tourism projects in Samarahan, with its Tambirat Market over 97 percent completed.

“This market in Asajaya will be a huge centre for local products from vegetables to fish, as well as one spot for visitors and tourists to come and see,” he said.

Additionally, he said plans are underway to develop and beautify a small lake in Desa Ilmu for the enjoyment of the local community.

“MPKS is committed to making Samarahan an attractive and livable place for all residents, especially after successfully addressing traffic congestion and waste-collection issues,” Minos emphasised.
