SIBU: Police arrested a local man for allegedly damaging the rear window of an ambulance at a vehicle air-conditioning repair workshop yesterday (Mar 25).

Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said the owner lodged a police report against an unidentified man who had approached the workshop at 12 pm.

According to the complainant, the suspect wielded a machete and damaged the rear left window of the ambulance.

“Later that same day, at around 2 pm, a team from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) arrested the 43-year-old suspect to aid in investigations.

“During the arrest, the suspect was disarmed of a karambit and a machete was discovered in the vehicle he was driving,” he said.

He the suspect and the seized items were taken to the police station for further action.

Subsequent urine test revealed the presence of methamphetamine and amphetamine in the suspect’s system.

The motive behind the property damage is under investigation.

The suspect is being held under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which carries an imprisonment of up to two years, or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
