SIMUNJAN: The Simunjan police headquarters Customer’s Day programme received a positive response from the public on Saturday.

Held in front of the old Simunjan market from 9am to 12pm, the programme saw 100 people attending the event.

Simunjan Police chief DSP Merbin Lisa, in a statement, revealed that a total of five counters were opened for the public to make a complaint, Crime Prevention and Community Safety; Crime Investigation; Traffic Investigation and Enforcement; Academic Affairs in promoting a police career; and Amanita counter.

A total of 16 officers and members were involved in the programme ― seven division chiefs, station chiefs (two), Amanita members (two) and general duty members (five).

He explained that the programme aimed to strengthen the bond between Simunjan police and the local community in order to obtain feedback; update on crime, drug, scams, traffic offences; Volunteer Smartphone Patrol (VSP) registration and others; and to alert and educate the public to be more vigilant of the current situation.

He also said that the police’s omnipresence would ensure the police remained committed to safeguarding the people’s security and wellbeing in order to live peacefully in close and good relations.
