SIMANGGANG: More corporate bodies should come out and help those who are less fortunate through the Back to School programme.

Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, who made the call, thanked the youth movement of Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Simanggang branch for assisting the less fortunate students.

“I welcome the move by the SUPP youth movement, led by Wong Yii Hong, to get donors to ease the burden of the parents and guardians in getting school uniform and stationery for the new school session which starts on March 20.

“I would like to thank Kho Miang Hua from Kho Su Ming Sdn Bhd. Since we have a few more days of holidays, I hope more corporate companies will forward to help our children,” he said.

The Simanggang assemblyman spoke during the presentation of special donations in the form of school uniform and school bags yesterday.

Harden explained that the programme was an important initiative to encourage the children to feel enthusiastic after a long school break.

“We want the children to be enthusiastic when they go to school and meet their teachers and peers. All of them have one purpose, which is to become useful people with knowledge, thus making them great role models in the future,” he added.

Harden also reminded parents and guardians to encourage their children to study hard, to always do their revisions and finish the homework assigned by their teachers.

He added that sitting together with the children was enough to encourage them and show them that their parents cared for them.

During the ceremony, 42 students received the school uniform and bags from Kho Su Ming Sdn Bhd and Jui Kung Trading here.
