SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) payment counters at the Urban Transformation Centre (UTC) will be closed at noon on Dec 31.
According to SMC chairman Datuk Tiong Thai King at the full council meeting yesterday, the closing of the council payment counters at UTC is to facilitate the closing of the council’s account for the year 2018.
However, other service counters will still be open to the public.
At the meeting, Tiong said the council had decided to strictly enforce the conditions of all licences including those for entertainment outlets, hawkers, food shops, barber shops and reflexology centres.
“With effect from Jan 1, 2019, licensees who fail to comply with any licence conditions will be served with compound notices.
“Any licensees who have been served three or more compound notices in one calendar year will have their licences cancelled for infringing the licence conditions,” he explained.
