SIMANGGANG: The opening of the Mobile Service 2U counter service has benefitted the rural communities allowing them to have access to welfare services.

Deputy Talent Development Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis has commended the initiative which not only brought both the leaders and the community together, but also provided opportunities for them to obtain the government’s assistance.

He added that the commitment shown by the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Lingga Branch and the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) Women Bureau of Rumah Panjang Ipan should be emulated.

“I am thrilled because even though SUPP Lingga Branch is recently formed, it has successfully selected its party members and currently there are 54 membership forms which have been approved.

“In our party, we encourage activities to be held to promote solidarity.

“Moreover, it has provided an opportunity for the community to get the needed assistance service which is near to their residential area, for example through the opening of Mobile Service 2U counter,” he said.

He said this during the International Women’s Day hosted by the SUPP Women’s Movement Lingga Branch with the cooperation of Rumah Panjang Ipan Women Bureau.

Harden, who is also the SUPP Lingga branch advisor, approved an allocation of Minor Rural Project (MRP) amounting to RM3,000 which was distributed to the JKKK Rumah Panjang Ipan in Pruan B.

In addition, RM2,000 was distributed to the Women’s Bureau and he hoped the fund could be used to assist in organising activities and benefit the community’s welfare.

The event was held in conjunction with JKKK Rumah Panjang Ipan’s 15th anniversary celebration and also the officiating of the RC Crossing, SUPP card membership and membership form acceptance.
