KUCHING: The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) Sarawak welcomes the new federal Cabinet line-up.

Its chairman, Omar Bahrein Unin said the appointment of 10 Sarawak MPs in the new Cabinet, either as full ministers or deputy ministers, would enable them to speak on behalf of the civil servants.

“This means that they (Sarawak MPs) can help to voice the problems or welfare issues of civil servants in the state,” he said on Saturday (Aug 28).

Omar added the appointment of Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof as a Senior Minister of Works was important for further infrastructure development in Sarawak.

“It is hoped that the related facilities can continue to be developed so that the civil servants can improve their services to the public,” he said.

He said civil servants would continue to perform their service delivery responsibilities to the people in accordance with the wishes and policies of the government through the leadership of each minister that had been appointed to take care of their respective ministries.

“We hope that there will be good relations, employee friendliness and cooperation from the ministers in dealing with welfare issues and problems brought by civil servants,” said Omar.
