TEBEDU: A total of 1,266 traditional village lots and agricultural lots through the native customary rights (NCR) land survey under the initiative of the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) have been handed over by Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus, recently.

Of the total, there were 520 traditional village lots and 746 were agricultural lots for which the measurement and documentation process started in March 2020.

The land surveying programme has involved three villages namely Kampung Tangga Mawang, Kampung Tangga Plaman and Kampung Pulau Tamba Serian.

According to Ilus, the main purpose of measuring and documenting NCR land is to give absolute rights, recognition and security of individual rights including facilitating and resolving land disputes.

“This initiative by DBNA has greatly facilitated and speeded up NCR land surveying work in the field as well as resolving border and land ownership issues between family members and surrounding villages by the Serian Department of Land and Survey,” he said during the handing over programme.
