The purpose was to inform, and invite, Taib to the 25th Unimas convocation ceremony, expected to begin on Feb 14.

At the same time, Taib also agreed and signed the letter of appointment of Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas as the new Unimas pro-chancellor, replacing Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang. The term is from Jan 24 to Jan 23, 2025.
