KUCHING: Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidates will only be officially announced on Dec 4 but two more incumbents have already found out that they will get to defend their seats.

They are Demak Laut incumbent Dr Hazland Abang Hipni and Tupong incumbent Fazzruddin Abdul Rahman, both from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), whose names caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg mentioned at a function here on Saturday (Nov 27).

Addressing delegates at the Kuching North City Commission’s (DBKU) Friendly Neighbourhood (JKM) dinner at USCI Hotel, the chief minister left no room for doubt when he said that the duo would continue to become the elected representative of their seats.

“Hazland and Fazzurdin who will continue to become elected representatives, Insya-Allah,” said Abang Johari, who is also PBB president and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) chairman.

In the 10th State Election, Dr Hazland won the Demak Laut seat by a 3,752 majority against his opponent Ali Hossen Abang of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) who only polled 1,770 votes.
