Deputy minister calls for continuous KEMAS improvement in early childhood education

SIBU: The Department of Community Development (KEMAS) has been urged to continually enhance its services, particularly in its early childhood education programme.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Native Customs and Law), Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat pointed out the crucial role played by KEMAS in educating the future generation.

In addition to its early childhood education programme, he highlighted the need for further improvement in KEMAS’ Functional Literacy Education Programme, aimed at raising literacy levels in rural and interior areas for adults.

“KEMAS’ educators need to initiate various efforts to turn its preschools into knowledge frontiers, preparing the younger generation for 21st-century needs,” he stated during the ‘Anugerah Penarafan Bintang 2023 KEMAS Kapit’ awards ceremony and dinner on Sunday night (Dec 10).

“KEMAS staff must always embrace a positive work culture, such as discipline, responsibility, integrity, professionalism, and maintaining departmental confidentiality in carrying out their assigned tasks.”
Jamit stressed that the commitment of KEMAS staff today is evident that they are united in driving the journey to realise KEMAS’ mission and vision.”

Regarding the awards programme, he described it not only as an incentive and recognition for officers and staff who have shown outstanding performance but also as a driver of transformation and a catalyst for positive change in promoting excellence in work culture.

He congratulated the award recipients and reminded them not to be complacent with their achievements, noting the need to maintain the momentum of excellent performance.
