BINTANGOR: Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Environment, and Climate Change, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii is helping to resolve issues faced by the people of Bintangor.

The issues include roads repairs, water supply, and applications for aid and projects.

Despite his tight schedules, Huang takes a serious view of the problems faced by his constituents and has approached the relevant officials and departments to tackle the problems, the Sarikei Service Centre said in a press statement today.

Huang, who is also the Sarikei Member of Parliament (MP) and Repok assemblyman, is closely observing the progress of various matters and plans to visit the Meradong and Julau District Councils (MJDC) to follow up on the developments, the centre said.

“Since the meeting between the deputy minister and the MJDC last January, more than 100 roads have been proposed for funding through the Malaysian Road Records Information System (MARRIS), including complaints about roads that have never been repaired.

“Huang hopes that the MJDC could expedite the process and he told the service service team to follow up on the progress of the road repair works.

“As all roads to be repaired need to be registered, the public is urged to be patient, while several roads have been successfully registered under the MARRIS,” said service centre said.

Seven roads have been handed over to the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development for road repair financing.

On the other hand, on assistance for water tanks, the service centre has sent almost 100 application letters to the Meradong District Office since March.

Huang has applied for more than 10 projects through the Irrigation and Drainage Department, including the cleaning of drains and the building of small docks and bridges.

“Currently,  the drain cleaning project in the Mador area has been approved, and the project will be carried out soon.

“Recently, drain cleaning works at Batu 4 Jalan Kelupu has been carried out through the Public Works Department (PWD), and now the drain flow is smooth and flood problems have been resolved.

“Ten applications for the Program Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin (PPRT) (Housing Programme for the Poor and Hardcore Poor), including e-kasih registration assistance, have been submitted to the Meradong District Office to assist those in need.

“The service centre is open from Monday to Friday, and people can seek various assistance, including Sumbangan Tunai Ramah (STR), application for the PPRT, e-Kasih, road issues, water and electricity issues, and other facilities,” the service centre said.
