KUCHING: The renovation of a run-down house in Stampin Resettlement Scheme has been successfully completed within a two-week timeframe, thanks to the Sarawak Poor Home Improvement Project (PPRMS).
Kota Sentosa assemblyman, Wilfred Yap, acknowledged the diligent efforts of the Kampung Stampin Baru Cina Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), who undertook the renovation work following a request from Pending assemblywoman, Violet Yong.
“After being alerted to the situation, I conducted an initial assessment together with Kapitan Chai Yong Liang. We discovered that the elderly homeowner’s house was in a deplorable state, suffering from leakage and other issues,” Yap said.
Consequently, the JKKK promptly commenced repair work on May 21, with the renovation costs totaling RM15,000. The repairs focused on fixing the roof, ceiling, and damaged walls.
Yap said this during a press conference held after the handover to homeowner Chang Sze Boon today (June 3).
Furthermore, he urged residents in need, particularly those within his constituency, to reach out if they require assistance with home repairs.
“They can contact their local representatives to submit their requests. The crucial aspect is that they fulfill the criteria and conditions, particularly low-income families living in poor housing conditions,” he added.
