KUCHING: Sarawakians must continue living harmoniously and not condon the divisive behavior found in the peninsula, says Deputy Premier Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian.

He said Sarawak is a united state and does not need to follow a culture such as that in Malaya.

“Currently, Sarawak is at an upper level where we are in good hands and does not need to rely on West Malaysia,” he said.

He said this when officiating at the Erawan Buddha’s birthday ceremony at Persatuan Penganut Buddha Chaisan Kuching yesterday (Nov 12).

Meanwhile, he added that Unifor (Unit For Other Religions) is a brainchild of the late Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem and an example of his long lasting legacy.

“Unifor which was established in 2016, even after his (Adenan) passing, his legacy remains and today Unifor is still operating and going strong.

“As an association there must be a team spirit so that bigger festivals and events can be organised in the future,” he said.

Adding further, he also pointed out that in the Sarawakian spirit, we must focus on ways to develop Sarawak further.

Among those present at the officiating ceremony was Kuching South City Council (MBKS) mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng and GPS candidate for Bnadar Kuching Erik Tay Tze Kok.
