KUCHING: The persistent rainfall this morning did not spare the animals housed at the Sarawak Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA).

According to a Facebook post by the non-profit organisation, the compound was flooded, and the dogs can be seen seeking refuge on higher ground.

“It rained early in the morning, and our animal shelter wasn’t spared. The Kota Sentosa area is badly affected. We pray that the rain will stop soon as we need to keep our doggos dry,” it said.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, SSPCA remains vigilant, regularly monitoring the situation through CCTV to ensure the well-being of the animals sheltered on-site.

The non-profit organisation also issued a plea for public support, urging donors to contribute to their ongoing efforts to improve facilities.

“Our Animal Village Phase I will kick start this year. The planning submission is almost done. Soon we will get all the green light to build our Animal Village, a higher and safer haven,” it added.

Donations towards the construction of their village can be made to the organisation’s CIMB account (8005274525) or through Sarawak Pay on their Facebook page, with the description ‘Building Fund’ specified.
