KUCHING: Forty-three pints of blood were collected during a blood donation and organ donation recruitment campaign at Emart Tabuan Jaya here on Sunday (Sept 4).

The campaign was organised by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society’s Cadet Unit of SMK Bandar Kuching No 1 to ensure sufficient supply at the blood bank of the Sarawak General Hospital.

“The blood donated will be used for patients in need of surgery, cancer treatment and transfusions for blood loss for traumatic injuries,” it said in a statement.

Aside from the blood donation campaign, it said that an organ donation recruitment campaign was also held which aims to raise awareness among the public on the important roles that they can play as a registered organ donor.

On another note, MRCS Sarawak Chapter, Kuching Branch and Stampin Branch will be jointly organising a fundraising sports event, RUN4 MANKIND 2022, this coming Nov 6.

“Members of the public are most welcomed to join the fun while supporting MRCS’s disaster relief and humanitarian assistance initiatives in Sarawak. Those who are interested in joining the run can register online at https://bit.ly/run4mankind2022.”
