KUCHING: Sarawak PAS has reminded the people that they should not be easily deceived by the propaganda of certain groups who like to undermine the prevailing racial unity in the state.

Its State Commissioner Jofri Jaraiee made the call during the party’s Harmony Day event at Kampung Siol Kandis here to celebrate the existing unity among the people.

He said Harmony Day is very suitable to be held in Sarawak given the various races, religions and ethnicities in the state as well as the lack of prejudicial feelings between them.

“Hopefully this Harmony Day celebration can strengthen unity and relationships between local communities regardless of race, religion, and political beliefs,” he added.

“In this programme, a Unity Sports event was held and a health check-up booth was also available for the villagers who attended besides various other events such as gendang, better known as bermukun, which are the cultural and artistic treasures of the Malay and Melanau communities of Sarawak,” he said in a statement posted in HarakahDaily.
