PADAWAN: Puncak Borneo needs a vigorous and fast-paced development to meet the needs and aspirations of the growing population in this constituency.

Deputy Minister of Transport and Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil called for more basic infrastructure such as roads, water and electricity supply, and socioeconomic initiatives.

He was speaking during a 15th general election (GE 15) campaign trail for the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Datuk Willie Mongin at the Kampung Semadang multi-purpose hall here last night (Nov 14).

The Puncak Borneo parliamentary constituency includes three state seats, namely Mambong (Dr Jerip) Serumbu (Miro Simuh) and Tarat (Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn).

Incumbent Willie is involved in a three-way battle with Diog Dios (Pakatan Harapan) and Iana Akam (Parti Sarawak Bersatu).

Willie won the seat on a PKR ticket in 2018.

Dr Jerip said that when MP and the three assemblymen are from the same party (GPS) it is easier for them to work together in planning and implementing development projects for the people.

“In addition, the cooperation between the MP and the three assemblymen will also enable the government to plan and implement various forms of development in the area.

“We need funds from the state and federal governments to fund development in Puncak Borneo. Imagine the amount of funds the three of us can get when we are from one single party and the government.

“That is why we voters in Puncak Borneo must give victory to Datuk Willie Mongin and pray that he is appointed as a full federal minister to bring more funds to develop the constituency, including Mambong, Tarat and Serumbu,” he said.

Dr Jerip said the people in Puncak Borneo should be grateful because for the last four years they had Willie as their representative in Parliament and he had worked hard and diligently to bring so much socioeconomic and infrastructure development to the people.

He was confident that when re-elected, Willie would continue his good efforts, further boosting development in the constituency.
