KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri James Masing said Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has selective memory as to who he wants to get angry with.

Stating this, Masing who is also Minister of Transport pointed out that Dr Mahathir was not happy because the government of Israel has not been kind to Palestine, a Muslim nation.

Malaysia, he said, as a Muslim country must therefore side with Palestine. To show his kindness to Palestine, he bans Israel from participating in Malaysia World Para Olympic Swimming championship.

“I can understand the argument but to a point. If a nation that is unkind to Muslims angers Dr Mahathir, then why did he not ban Myanmar from participating? Myanmar has been harassing Rohingya Muslims for years. He does have selective memory,” said Masing.

Due to the ban, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) has moved to strip Sarawak’s rights to host the 2019 World Para Swimming Championships which will be held later this year.
