KUCHING: Two men were caught stealing electrical cables from the Everrise store at Mile 4, Jalan Penrissen.

The suspects were caught in the act by a security guard and civilians around 11.30pm last Sunday while they were busy cutting off the electrical wires.

It is learned that the assistant manager of the Everrise building had received a call from a co-worker about the missing electrical cables at Everrise the day before.

The assistant manager was shocked to find all the electrical cables in the shop gone when he visited it. The estimated loss was around RM5,000.

The next day (Nov 24), the suspects were apprehended by the civilians after being caught stealing the cables.

The authorities seized five cut-off electrical cables, a Perodua Kenari, a foldable ladder and car keys from the suspects who entered the store through the back door.

CCTV footage captured the same car at the scene for two consecutive days. The suspects had allegedly stolen the electrical cables inside the premises.
