Dzulkafli new 1st Infantry Div commander

KOTA SAMARAHAN: Major-General Datuk Dzulkafli Mustaffa has replaced Major-General Datuk Md Din Abu as 1st Infantry Division commander. 

A ceremony to hand over duties was held at Muara Tuang Camp here yesterday, and attended by Eastern Field Command acting commander Major-General Datuk Muhammad Hafizuddeain Jantan.

Dzulkafli was born on Feb 23, 1963 in Kubang Pasu, Kedah and began his career as a cadet officer in 1981 and was subsequently promoted to Lieutenant on May 22, 1982.

The 3rd Battalion Royal Ranger Regiment (3RRD) was his first unit.

During his nearly 38 years of military service, he held various positions as well as attended strategic courses locally and abroad.

He is married to Datin Norziati Othman and they have three girls.

Yesterday, he became the 28th 1st Infantry Division commander — he previously served as the senior directoring staff at the National Defense College of National Defense Studies, Putrajaya.

Meanwhile, Md Din will undergo transition training before mandatory retirement in December this year.

He was born on Dec 28, 1960 in Alor Gajah, Malacca and he began his military career in 1980 as a cadet officer before moving to the 5th Battalion Royal Regiment (5RRD) on June 17, 1982.

He is married to Datin Salina Said and they have one boy and two girls.

He also held various positions during his 40 years of service.
