SIBU: The Borneo Cultural Festival (BCF) 2023 will be held for 15 days starting from July 14 to July 2

Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman, Clarence Ting Ing Horh said the council would be sending invitations for participation to foreign countries early.

“We will be sending out the invitations after the BCF 2023 organising committee meeting this September.

“We also have to write to the Ministry of Tourism.

“Both the minister and the deputy minister of tourism have told us to send letters to them early,” he said when chairing the SMC monthly meeting on Wednesday.

Ting also urged the council’s Community and Social Development Standing Committee to start collecting and compiling all the videos for promotional purposes.

“I want to make a promotional video for the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Office Singapore (STATOS). This video must be ready by November,” he said, adding that not many promotions were done for BCF this year.

“During the recent visit to STATOS together with Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, I found out that they did not know anything about the event,” he said.

Ting also said that the video could also be sent to the Malaysian Tourism Board and Business Event Sarawak (BES) because they could help to promote BCF internationally.

Also present were SMC deputy chairman, councillor Bujang Abdul Majid and SMC acting secretary, Yong Ing Chu.
