KUCHING: Sarawak’s achievement in recording its highest revenue collection for the financial year 2022 can be a learning model for other states in Malaysia.

Political analyst Dr Ammar Redza Ahmad Rizal stated that other states can learn and emulate how Sarawak develops its economic plan.

“Sarawak should be proud of this achievement,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

He pointed out that part of the revenue should be given back to the rakyat so they can enjoy the triumphant achievement.

“I think it is important to communicate the message that ‘as the state government achieves economic excellence, its benefit can be felt by the people’. It shall be translated towards stronger support of the state government to its people,” he said.

While Sarawak’s economy is mainly contributed by its rich natural resources, Ammar noted that Sarawak needs to continue investing more on digital economy and service sector.

He said this is because as the state becomes more developed, its economic sectors will change from resource-based to service-based major.

“This will also help to boost the state’s economy further,” he added.
